Average Adult Size : 2 - 3 inches / 5 - 7.5cm

Place Of Origin : South East Asia

Minimum Aquarium Capacity : 20 gallons imperial / 90 litres

Compatability : Community shrimp.

Water Temperature : 70 - 78 F / 21 – 26 Deg C

Water Ph, Kh ,Dh : 6.5 - 7.8 | 3 - 10 Kh | 6 - 18 Gh

Difficulty : Moderate

Feeding :  The Bamboo shrimp is a filter feeder and will use its fans to catch passing food debris and biofilm.  If the tank water is very clean then you must use commerical food products such as shrimp pellets, fish flakes and algae wafers, these must be ground up and put into the current in which the Bamboo shrimp is located in order for it to catch the food in its fans.

Sexing : The males tend to be larger than females. The females legs will also all be the same size whereas the males front two legs will be larger than the others.

Breeding : Bamboo shrimp hatch into salt water where they go through a larval stage and then need to be brought into fresh water and if this is not done correctly the baby shrimp can be killed.

Additional Information : The Bamboo shrimp is not a common one to find in the hobby so will be difficult to come by but if you do manage to find some then get them, their large size makes them a great addition to the aquarium and being peacful they pose no risk to other tankmates.
